Annalee Doll Description: Squinting eyes, open mouth as shown, cork nose, red flannel body, off white gloves, holds out his pockets showing he is broke or poor with no money left in his pockets. Perfect example of Annalee's early creations. Adorable face! One of the first 18" Santas made. Signed "Annalee 6/13/95" on the back of his shoulders. I have never seen another one like this, so it might be a one-of-a-kind. I think it came from the Annalee museum. Red flannel outfit and white hands show very little signs of being displayed. The beard has some discoloration/shelf dust and the head is wobbly - which is very common in the early Santas. The black belt has some cracks on the edges and in the middle due to age. The bottom gold sequin has less gold than the top one. I wanted to mention every imperfection. They are subtle and do not detract from the doll in anyway. A very rare and interesting piece. I bet Annalee designed this doll after one of her Christmas shopping sprees and she felt "broke" afterwards - just like everyone else does! Sold for $925 in the 1995 June Auction at Annalee Company in Meredith, NH. This is out of my personal collection.
